Metaplanet Buys 1,241 Bitcoin, Surpasses El Salvador With 6,796 BTC; Stock Up 28%

Metaplanet, a Japanese company, has acquired an additional 1,241 Bitcoin for ¥18.4 billion (approximately $126.7 million), bringing its total Bitcoin holdings to 6,796 BTC. This latest purchase means Metaplanet now holds more Bitcoin than the government of El Salvador, which is estimated to have about 5,700 BTC.

The company announced that the average purchase price for this acquisition was ¥14,848,061 per Bitcoin. Metaplanet's cumulative investment in Bitcoin now totals approximately ¥90.19 billion, with an average acquisition price of ¥13,270,989 per BTC. The company has set a target to hold 10,000 BTC by the end of 2025 and 21,000 BTC by the end of 2026, and has now reached about 68% of its 2025 goal.
