Blur Closes the Front Door on Its NFT Marketplace
Blur announced the plan in a post on X. The shutdown covers only the website frontend, so the marketplace contracts will keep working onchain.
“The Blur marketplace protocol will remain operational on-chain, and $BLUR will continue to control its fee switch,” the announcement read.
Blend, Blur’s NFT lending protocol, will also stop matching new loans on November 12. Borrowers must repay before then or let their loans default.
Blast, the Ethereum layer-2 network also founded by Tieshun “Pacman” Roquerre, began its own wind-down 10 days earlier. It gave users until October 26 to withdraw through its interface.
Blur’s Locked Value and Fees Were Already Fading
For Blur, the shutdown follows a long decline in its own onchain numbers. Its total value locked (TVL) stands at $22.63 million, DefiLlama data shows. That is down from a peak of about $215.9 million on March 9, 2024.
Blur’s fees peaked at $25.58 million in the first quarter of 2023. By the first quarter of 2025, they had fallen to $2.33 million. In the third quarter of 2026, Blur collected just $0.51, and the past 30 days show none.
Data shows the WETH held in Blur’s bidding pool fell from about 6,991 to 6,703 between October 12 and 13. Blend’s TVL dropped from $7.03 million to $5.69 million over the same period.
The number of blue-chip NFTs held as Blend collateral also fell by about 160. Azuki dropped from 271 to 229, while Pudgy Penguins went from 289 to 259.
The next test comes on November 12, when Blend stops new loans, and the website goes dark.
