The Federal Bureau of Investigation has issued a public warning to Tron blockchain users about a fraudulent token that impersonates the agency.
A screenshot shared by the FBI New York appears to show that the scam token delivers messages to users. The message claims that the recipient’s wallet is “under investigation” and threatens a “total block on assets.”
It demands recipients visit an external site and complete a sham anti-money laundering (AML) verification. Scammers are using social engineering tactics, combining fear, urgency, and official regulatory language, to pressure victims into handing over personal information.
“If you receive a token from an account with the details below, do not provide any identifying information to any website associated with such token,” the FBI wrote.
The agency is also directing victims who have already submitted personal information to file a report with the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3).

This incident fits a broader trend of impersonation-driven fraud that has accelerated sharply. According to a Chainalysis report, impersonation scams grew by roughly 1,400% year over year in 2025, with the average payment size also jumping more than 600%.
The blockchain analytics firm projected that crypto-related scams and fraud may have caused over $17 billion in total losses during 2025.
