Crocs stock jumped more than 25% on October 29 after the footwear maker beat third-quarter earnings forecasts and raised its outlook. A Pokémon 30th anniversary clog collection, expected on November 16, now offers the next read on demand.
The quarterly numbers are now public, however. Shareholders need proof that sales hold up in the holiday quarter, where Crocs targets faster growth than in the summer months.
Why Crocs Stock Jumped Before Pikachu Arrived
Crocs reported higher quarterly revenue and earnings that topped analyst forecasts, its results show.
Management also raised its full-year profit outlook, citing growth across brands and regions.
HeyDude, the casual shoe brand Crocs owns, returned to sales growth. Meanwhile, international demand carried the Crocs brand, while North American sales slipped.
Even after the jump, Crocs stock trades close to where it stood five years ago.
Pikachu Faces the Holiday Quarter Test
Crocs plans to release Pikachu and Gengar Classic Clogs, plus a Jigglypuff Platform Clog. The pack marks 30 years of Pokemon and follows a Poke Ball clog that dropped in August.
The Pokemon line is one of several licensed drops in November. Release calendars also list Harry Potter, Hello Kitty, and Chainsaw Man clogs, the last based on a Japanese anime series. A Peanuts design follows in December.
The timing matters for Crocs stock. The company expects revenue growth to speed up in the fourth quarter.
That quarter also covers what has historically been the S&P 500’s strongest seasonal window. Last year, Crocs reported its holiday-quarter results in mid-February.
Still, the latest results credited international sales and new styles rather than any single collaboration. As a result, the Pokemon drop works more as a sentiment test than as an earnings driver.
Pokemon has also turned into a market theme of its own. Rare cards have outperformed Bitcoin and gold, and Polymarket now runs card price prediction markets. Coinbase also moved into digital Pokemon card packs backed by physical cards.
For Crocs stock, the holiday quarter will show whether that pull reaches footwear.
